Theatrical
Uses
Two
twin five metre domes were constructed for a Leeds based touring theatrical
company called "Interplay" (see www.interplaytheatre.org).
This mobile theatre was first used on
tour of special schools in Britain with a play called "Song From
The Sea". The second act of this play is set underneath the sea.
It is this aspect which is best served by being produced inside a dome.
The control of the lighting conditions cannot be matched in any ordinary
hall.
The
two domes were designed to be linked by a corridor made of the same fabric.
This serves as both an air lock and as a foyer for the domes. The door
in each dome comprises two parallel zips, so that the door can be rolled
up to allow access for wheelchairs. These doors, of course, can be operated
only when the outer door is closed.
The domes were
designed to be used in tandem with a connecting corridor/vestibule, but
in practice the company decided to use the two domes separately.
